Computer Networks

COMPUTER NETWORKS DESCRIPTION.
This simply talks about different types of network and their uses. It also tells us about places they are being used and their different connection method using pictures to illustrate as well. The assignment covers the following:

• Peer to peer network
• Client server network 
• Uses of peer to peer and client server network
• Features of both network
• User experience, speed, reliability and connectivity when using the network
• Advantages and disadvantages of one of the network.

I want a career in software development in the future.  However, I was happy that this unit was included because I know it is important to have skills over a broad area too.  Learning about networks was interesting because we finally knew how they were set up and why.  Also, we looked at the different types of networks.

I didn’t think this unit would have many links to the others until we started doing it. However, once I started learning more I realised that if I was to be a database developer in the future then I would have to know how to ‘distribute’ it on a network and how to set it up for multiple users.  So, at the end of the day I was really happy I did this unit.

LEARNING AIMS IN BRIEF:

In this unit I learned how to:  

• understand the features and uses of computer networking
• design a computer network
• develop and test a computer network
• review the finished computer network.
